The Regional Public Health Healthy Environments team comprises of health protection officers who work to protect and promote the health and wellbeing of people across the Wellington region from actual and potential environmental hazards and risks across the region.

This work undertaken by health protection officers includes the protect against public health risk associated with:

  • Biosecurity
  • Hazardous substances
  • Lead
  • Legionellosis
  • Resource management
  • Landfill odour
