Access to healthy food/kai
The goal of the Nutrition and Physical Activity team is to empower people in the Wellington region, focusing on communities where the potential for health gains are the greatest, to make healthier food choices as recommended by the Ministry of Health Food and Nutrition Guidelines.
Our local food environment currently promotes and provides easy access to cheap unhealthy food choices. In order to encourage healthy food choices and support a reduction in nutrition related diseases, we need to make affordable healthy food options more readily available and accessible.
